FRAGMENT MAGNET TUTORIAL:
Materials Needed:
Stamps {by Paper Smooches "Hot Concoctions" set}
Archival Ink
Tim Holtz Fragments
Glossy Accents
Cardstock/Patterned Papers
Hat Pin/Stick Pin
Magnet Sheet/Magnet Tape
Scissors/Rotary Cutter

STEP 1:  Measure up your fragments to the stamps that you want to use.  You can also use Clip Art, photos, magazine ephemera...whatever your heart desires!

STEP 2:  Stamp your image and cut it out.  I decided to paper piece mine a little.  Please keep in mind though, that you will want to limit your layers so that your fragment lies as flat as possible.

STEP 3:  Piece your stamped image together and adhere it to your base paper.

STEP 4:  Apply Glossy Accents to one side of the fragment shape of your choice.  Quick tip:  Give a practice squeeze on a piece of scrap paper so that the bottle does not 'spit' all over your face and shirt...of course, I am only thinking this could happen...just thinking ;)

STEP 5:  Spread the Glossy Accents around the fragment, covering the one side completely.  The amount you add will be the tricky part.  You want enough to cover the fragment completely, but not such a large amount that it takes forever to dry.

STEP 6:  Quickly pop any air holes that you may see with a hat pin or stick pin (or anything small and sharp).  You must work just a wee bit quickly.

STEP 7:  Firmly press your fragment over your stamped image.  NOTE: Take care as it may slide around a little.  Hold and let dry for a few minutes.

STEP 8:  Cut around the fragment as close as possible.  You can use a rotary cutter, scissors or, if you trust your steadiness, an exacto knife.  I found that I actually liked non-stick scissors the best as they are easier to clean up any wet Glossy Accents.

STEP 9:  Spread Glossy Accents on the back of the paper just as you did in Step 5.  This time you do not have to worry about any air holes :)  NOTE:  If using magnet tape, you do not need this step and may be able to eliminate some others.  I prefer the sheets because it gives you a stronger magnet contact by covering the entire back surface.

STEP 10:  Adhere the fragment onto your magnet sheet just as you did in Step 6.  Again, remember, it may slide around a little.  Hold firmly in place for a few minutes.

STEP 11:  Cut around the fragment as close as you can (like in Step 7).  You need to make sure that whatever cutting tool you have chosen to use is sharp.  This will ensure a nice, clean cut of the magnet sheet.

FINAL PROJECT:
Front of the magnet in use
Back of the finished magnet
Doesn't it look like a thin mint?  Hee hee ;)  I am STARVED!!!
While I go and snack, please be sure to leave your comment for a chance to win A BOX OF THIN MINTS...oh, wait...that is my snack...no, no, no...you will be entering for a chance to win A STAMP SET from yours truly :)  You can get a second entry into the random drawing for following my blog.  Who doesn't love followers, right?  If you are already a follower, please be sure to let me know so I count in your second chance. I also like to follow blogs in return as well, so keep an eye out for me...I am coming to check out your inspiration :)
Thank you for hopping with The Outlawz and celebrating our 2,000 members!!!

Question on the magnets though, do you find that the magnet sheets can hold up more than one paper or are these magnets just looking pretty? Although, there is _nothing_ wrong with just wanting pretty magnets on my fridge. :D

I loved reading your "about me " when you decide what you want to when you grow up, let me know I might want to 2. I have done a magnet before and your right you want to limit your layers as you may end up with a magnet that wont stay up for the weight . the one i made was for a dishwasher that said clean/dirty. I had some pre-made magnetic cards that i used . I ended up using like eight before it would not fall LOL. lesson learned. I so wished i had seen your tut before I tried mine on my own :)
